Terms of Service
Last updated: April 22, 2026
These terms govern both the hosted cloud service at distributed-authoring-nexus.com and any use of the DAN Docker image (ignusvm/dan) on self-hosted infrastructure. By signing up for the cloud service or deploying the image, you agree to these terms.
The short version
- Be nice. Don't use DAN to break laws, harass people, or spam.
- Your content belongs to you. We don't claim ownership.
- Cancel anytime. No refunds for unused time, but nothing auto-renews without warning.
- DAN is provided as-is. Back up your work.
Accounts
You must be 13+ to create an account. You're responsible for keeping your password secure and for activity on your account. One person per account — no sharing credentials.
Your content
You own what you write. You grant us a license to store, display, and process your content only as needed to run the service (serving your pages, making backups, running provider requests you initiate). We don't claim any other rights.
Acceptable use
Don't use DAN to:
- Violate any law or regulation.
- Upload malicious code.
- Attempt to bypass rate limits, quotas, or security measures.
- Harass, dox, or threaten others.
- Create content that sexualizes minors or promotes real-world violence.
Payment
Cloud plan is $6/month recurring. Processed by Stripe. Cancel anytime; access continues until the end of your billing period. We don't offer refunds for partial months but will honor refund requests made within 7 days of your first charge.
Provider usage
DAN routes requests through your own provider accounts. We're not responsible for provider costs, outages, or content returned by the models you call. You're responsible for the keys you configure and the charges they incur.
License and self-hosting
DAN is proprietary software owned by Malevolent Gods Software. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to:
- Use the hosted cloud service at distributed-authoring-nexus.com according to your subscription.
- Run the published Docker image (
ignusvm/dan) on your own infrastructure for personal or internal business use at no charge.
- Redistribute, resell, sublicense, or offer DAN (or any derivative) as a hosted service to third parties.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the source code from the image.
- Remove, alter, or obscure branding, copyright notices, or the "Powered by DAN" footer when running self-hosted for any audience beyond a household or single organization.
Self-hosted instances
If you run DAN on your own infrastructure, you are the operator of that instance. We don't monitor, moderate, or provide support for self-hosted instances, and we're not liable for content posted to them. These Terms still govern your use of the DAN software itself, but each self-hosted operator is responsible for their own users, content, and compliance.
Service availability
We aim for high uptime but don't guarantee it. DAN is provided "as is" without warranty. Back up your work regularly — exports are available under project settings.
Termination
You can delete your account anytime at Settings → Account. We may suspend or terminate accounts for violations of these terms, giving reasonable notice except in cases of abuse.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced by email to active subscribers at least 14 days in advance.
